Surviving disasters requires more than just a good data backup. Your customers need a place where they can run their applications if disaster strikes. But typical disaster plans from companies like Sungard, IBM and EDS cost a fortune. If it's too expensive, your customers won't use it and that leaves them exposed to business ending disasters.

Carroll-Net HotSite is a powerful, cost effective disaster protection addition. Here's how it works:

1. First, you snapshot your customer's servers to a firewire drive, and ship the drive to the Carroll-Net Datacenter
2. Next, Carroll-Net will store the snapshots in the Carroll-Net VMWare Server Farm.
3. The virtual images are put into suspended animation, so your customer has no need for duplicate licensing fees.

Your customer's HotSite is now ready to go. Anytime your customers is having a disaster, one call to the Carroll-Net Datacenter and your customer is up and running.

Pricing

HotSite is sold on a fixed fee basis and is only $100 per month for your customer's entire enterprise. The service includes up to 30GB of storage for images (any storage above 30GB is billed at the customer's regular Healthy Service rate).

Some setup fees apply. A typical setup fees is $2,500 which includes 2-days of consulting, and the creation of the customer's "Run Book". The Run Book is the customer's documented activation plan. It's a critical document that ensures a smooth activation of their HotSite.

Technical Details

DNS Addition

Each customer adds Carroll-Net to their DNS records. In a disaster, Carroll-Net staff will publish the customer's virtual infrastructure to the DNS system. This ensures your customer's email and website will continue to work smoothly during a disaster.

Disaster Activation

Your customer's access to their HotSite is through a Portal Server. Data from the previous night’s backup is available through a shared drive. You'll be able to login to the infrastructure remotely and recover the data directly into your customer's virtual environment.

HotSite also include space at the Carroll-Net Datacenter. During a disaster, Carroll-Net will make space for one of your staff to work at the Datacenter. You'll be provided with:

• A desk, phone and supplies
• WiFi or Wired LAN Connection
• Internet access
• A Windows terminal (if you need it)

And if you need it, Carroll-Net will provide technical support staff (support services are available hourly plus expenses).

Semi-annual Update

From time-to-time, server configurations change. Most companies will have at least one or two major changes each year. To accommodate these changes, Carroll-Net HotSite provides two free updates a year.
