Revisions Provide Powerful Protection from Corruption
There's nothing like the sting of trying to access a file that
has been corrupted, especially if it's your only copy. After
all, it's a lot easier to open up the most recent version of a
file and make a few modifications than have to create it from
scratch.
And that's where revisions come in—data snapshots of past file
versions that offer easy access to versions in the event of
unexpected corruption. Revisions are powerful tools for tracking
changes because your customer can compare previous versions of a
file to track changes made to it over time, so the next time
corruption strikes recovery is just a few clicks away.
But revisions aren't perfect. Judicious use is called for when
deciding which files to save and how often to save them because
the convenience of accessing revisions to save corrupted files
comes at the cost of disk space. In fact, if too many revisions
are made too often, there may not be enough free disk space to
enable a customer to go back to a previous snapshot before a
corruption event.
So what's the solution?
Carroll-Net's Free Healthy Server™ with built-in Microsoft®
Volume Shadow Copy.
Each Healthy Server performs daily snapshots, enabling most
customers to access weeks and sometimes months of revisions
effortlessly when the need arises. All snapshots are
password-protected and can be browsed from anywhere on the
network through Healthy Server for convenient access. Best of
all, because snapshots use unallocated disk space, there’s no
charge!
When corruption strikes your customers' files, offer them
Healthy Server to save time, disk space, and money. Your
customers will thank you. |
